Journey to Success
Capitol Clubhouse is a program for adults with mental illness based on the Clubhouse Model of Rehabilitation. We strive to improve the quality of life for Clubhouse members by providing employment, education, wellness, and social opportunities.
Welcome to Capitol Clubhouse
Capitol Clubhouse is an independent program of Kennebec Behavioral Health. Our Clubhouse is a vocational rehabilitation program for adults with mental illness based on the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. A Clubhouse provides a restorative environment for people whose lives have been severely disrupted because of the effects of mental illness, and who need the support of others who are in recovery and who believe mental illness is treatable. Membership is voluntary and lasts a lifetime.
What is a Clubhouse?
A Clubhouse is first and foremost a local community center offering people who have mental illness hope and opportunities to achieve their full potential. Much more than simply a program or a social service, a Clubhouse is most importantly a community of people who are working together to achieve a common goal. A Clubhouse is organized to support people living with mental illness. During the course of their participation in a Clubhouse, members gain access to opportunities to rejoin the worlds of employment, education, and the support they may individually need to continue their recovery.
The Clubhouse is a place where members can participate with dignity and respect. The members are wanted and needed by the Clubhouse Community. Participation by members is essential to the functioning of the Clubhouse. The voluntary nature of of the Clubhouse provides members flexibility to work on their goals of making friends, feeling more productive and connected to a community and support to explore educational and employment opportunities. It is our mission to improve the quality of life for people who experience the effects of mental illness by providing a variety of opportunities for personal growth.
